Safe Boating Course

A boating safety certification is required by law for Vermont boaters born after January 1, 1974. To aid in obtaining this certificate, the Lake St Catherine Association has Frank Callahan, a certified instructor, who will teach the class in Poultney. The FREE course takes 8 hours over 2 days, including a test. This is open to everyone teenage and up. The class must have a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 25 students. The only equipment needed is a number 2 pencil and a highlighter. The results are forwarded to the Vermont State Police, Marine Division, who will issue the certificate. Covered in the course are the following subjects: Know Your Boat, Before You Get Underway, Operate Your Boat Safely, Legal requirements of Boating, Boating Emergencies, and Enjoying Water Sports With Your Boat.

This training has a minimum of 10 students and maximum of 25.
